EMERGENCE kicks off at Venture Café Tokyo on Feb 27, 2020
Experts discuss the future of the life science ecosystem in Japan from different perspectives
LEO Science & Tech Hub JP/KR hosted the first life science cluster, EMERGENCE, event at Venture Café Tokyo on Feb 27. Four passionate guest speakers of various backgrounds were invited to discuss the current state of the Life Science ecosystem in Japan, and what we can do to change it for the better. The ecosystem in Boston was introduced as an example.
The topics mainly discussed were:
- The “evolution” of researchers’ mindset
- The current situation and challenges around support for life science startups
- What we can do. (e.g. networking, patent quality improvement, mobility of professionals within field, and community outreach & communication from researchers)
Due to the challenging situation concerning the novel Corona virus, the event was webcasted from Venture Café Tokyo. The event was successful, with approximately 70 people joining remotely. Several listeners moved to an online platform for open and active discussions with guest speakers after the event.
